Worth School

Worth School

'Boarding School of the Year'

Recently awarded ‘Boarding School of the Year’ at the Independent School Awards, Worth is one of the UK’s leading independent Catholic schools.

Worth School is one of the UK’s leading independent Catholic schools. Although not all our students are Catholic (we welcome those of all faiths and none), this values-led educational vision filters through to provide a unique, deep all-round education as we prepare young people for happiness and success in their adulthood.

The school motto 'Education with Heart and Soul' sums up what it is that makes Worth so special; our students, who come from across the globe, leave Worth academically enriched with spiritual roots, entering the world as young people who are kind, reflective and self-assured in a peaceful, grounded sense.

LOCATION

Our idyllic location is set in 500 acres of glorious Sussex countryside close to Gatwick and Heathrow airports, halfway between London and Brighton, with grounds made for roaming and enjoying outdoor activities. Our fleet of minibuses collect pupils from Sussex, Surrey and Kent, including nearby Three Bridges station (35 minutes from London).

ABOUT US

Worth is an academically ambitious school, benefiting from passionate and talented teachers. Co-curricular activities are incredibly broad and inspiring; 150 choices ranging from photography and lacrosse to jazz band and horse-riding!
Our friendly, inclusive atmosphere is seen in the seamless blending of the boarding and day houses. All pupils enjoy a long, structured day on our phone-free campus from 8.30am-5.25pm. These hours include co-curricular and prep time, so most of the school day is spent altogether, having fun and learning from one another. Our weekend activities are open to day pupils as well as boarders, further cementing friendships.

In this fast-paced, competitive and increasingly online world, students are taught patience and gratitude, to know hard work and focus. A key part of this is ‘Wednesday Worship’; the whole school comes together on a Wednesday afternoon in the on-site Abbey Church. We hear from inspirational speakers and take time to contemplate, think or pray away from distraction and devices. These 40 minutes are often seen as some of the most important in the week where students – regardless of their faith – gather to pause, get perspective, think of others.

SIXTH FORM

Our Sixth Form provides the perfect set-up in which to learn leadership and responsibility, as part of the larger school environment but enjoying increased independence. Students choose either A Level or International Baccalaureate (IB) and go on to study at leading institutions such as Oxbridge, Durham, Edinburgh, UCL as well as across the US and Europe. Excellent facilities include a magnificent Sixth Form centre and library, a £6m gift from an alumnus.

It is also a time for new experiences, friendships and for keeping well, both mentally and physically. Our academic and co-curriculum programme offers a huge range of arts, sports and other activities and there is a celebrated lecture programme with visiting guest speakers and a host of engaging social events to enjoy.

Every Worthian remains part of the community long after they leave, enjoying the benefits of our award-winning alumni association ‘Worth Society’.
